Fans React to New Photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Kids, Noting Their Daughter Looks Older Than Her Brother

Users Say Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s 3-Year-Old Daughter ‘Looks Bigger’ than Her 5-Year-Old Brother — Photo

A picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s three-year-old daughter and five-year-old son was included on their holiday card.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry posted a family portrait on December 16, 2024, which caused people to comment and react. The unexpected appearance of their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, attracted a lot of attention from internet users.

The holiday card features six photographs, including the family shot. Archie and Lilibet are seen running excitedly toward their parents from behind. The picture, which also includes the family’s three dogs, Guy, Pula, and Momma Mia, makes the siblings look more mature than ever.

Meghan is shown on the card grinning broadly at Archie as Harry squats down to greet Lilibet, who has long, red hair that like her brother’s.

“On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation,” was the statement on the card, which was printed on a deep green background. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a good new year.

In the holiday card, Lilibet’s appearance of being somewhat taller or almost the same height as her older brother caught fans’ attention and sparked online conversations. “How can a five-year-old and a three-year-old be the same height?” remarked one perplexed user. Something doesn’t seem right.

“How is Lilibet bigger than her older brother [sic]?” said another, echoing the sentiment. Totally out of proportion. “The children’s sizes don’t look right,” another person said, echoing their perplexity. As one commenter put it, “They have an age gap but they look like twins in this picture.”

One fan also said, “The little girl looks bigger than the boy,” while another agreed, saying, “The children’s photo doesn’t look appropriate for their ages.” The child appears significantly taller than Archie in the photo, even though she was born after him rather than before him—unless, of course, Archie has long hair.

One person commented, “That photo just doesn’t look right the little girl is bigger than her older sibling and Harry doesn’t look real.” Another person thought the overall image was confusing. Others paused to consider their transformation, saying, “Wow, they’ve matured so much! That passed by so quickly.

The picture made some people very happy. “Lilibet is nearly as tall as Archie,” an admirer said pleasantly. “❤️❤️❤️❤️” “Beautiful family wishing them the best 🥰” exclaimed one person, while another thrilled user remarked, “Awww so cute! Beautiful family.

Five pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan from their earlier this year trips to Nigeria and Colombia were also featured on the holiday card. But since the couple has been raising their kids out of the spotlight, the seldom look at their kids attracted additional attention.

The couple, who cherish their privacy, have mentioned their children on a few occasions. Harry said in 2023 that he sees a lot of Princess Diana in his kids, adding humorously, “The ginger gene is a strong one.”

He believed his ginger genes wouldn’t compete with Meghan’s if they had children early on in their relationship, but he was shown to be mistaken.

When Lilibet achieved a new milestone in 2022, the proud father also expressed his excitement. “Her current priorities are trying to keep up with her brother; she took her first step just a few days ago!” he said.

Meghan Markle also openly discussed her dedication to protecting her kids from the risks of the internet in August of this year. A new initiative from the couple’s Archewell Foundation helps parents whose kids have been harmed online.

According to Meghan, “Our children are little. Their ages are three and five. They’re fantastic. However, as parents, your only goal is to keep kids safe. We are therefore aware that much work needs to be done in the internet domain, and we are just grateful to be able to contribute to positive change.”

Harry also offered his viewpoint, highlighting the seriousness of the risks associated with the internet in the modern society. Every parent needs to be a first responder, he said, adding that even they could not recognize the warning signals of problems like suicidal thoughts triggered by internet abuse. The thought crossed his mind, “That is the terrifying piece of this,”

Harry and Meghan are dedicated to bringing up Archie and Lilibet with a deep understanding of the diversity of the globe and its people, in addition to internet safety. Harry loves the Invictus Games and can’t wait to take their kids there. Archie had already been exposed to the activities through movies of wheelchair rugby and basketball, which he found to be quite entertaining.

“I explained to him that other people also had unseen ailments and showed him how some people had lost legs. I wanted to let him know, not because he asked. He explained, “Kids understand so much, and it was amazing to see it through his eyes because it’s so unfiltered and honest.”

Harry just shared yet another endearing fact about Lilibet and Archie. He was giving a speech at the WellChild Awards, of which he has long been a patron. The father of two proudly revealed what the children got from their mother in the October 2024 issue of Hello! Magazine.

According to Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon, Hello!’s chief content officer, Harry informed her, “Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair, he told us, self-effacingly, as he marveled that it won’t be long until Lili can sit on hers.”

Vokes-Dudgeon added that Harry appeared at ease and hopeful about the next phase of his life. He said that acquaintances had told him that his forties were “the best decade” and praised Meghan’s steadfast support at home.

Harry revealed that in addition to the couple’s two kids, Meghan was occupied with their three dogs, whom he humorously referred to as “not quite house-trained.” He made a fun allusion to their poultry, adding to their busy family life and suggesting a vibrant dynamic in the home.

Vokes-Dudgeon said that Harry seemed “in his element” and incredibly fulfilled while talking about his children and his philanthropic efforts, despite his humorous comments. Unquestionably, he enjoys spending time with the families, kids, and professionals honored at the WellChild Awards.

The Sussexes’ children continue to be at the center of significant updates as they manage their family life while striking a balance between privacy and public interest.

Following their newly granted royal titles, the couple made headlines earlier this year in February 2024 when they formally altered the last names of their children.

Previously going by the last name “Mountbatten-Windsor,” Archie and Lilibet adopted their royal titles as part of their official last names.

King Charles III awarded his grandchildren the coveted titles of prince and princess, a gesture that Harry and Meghan welcomed when he took the throne in 2022. Although they agreed to the titles, they weren’t utilized until much later.

When Princess Lilibet was christened in March 2023, the titles were used for the first time, marking a public recognition of this incredible shift. On the royal family’s official website, the children’s names were subsequently changed to “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”

As titles and territory designations frequently function as surnames, the choice of “Sussex” as the family’s surname is consistent with royal customs, thus enshrining the children’s royal heritage and their parents’ history in their names. In the royal family, whose names and titles are closely linked to identity and ancestry, this approach to surnames is in line with historical precedence.

According to the official royal website, paternal ancestry is frequently reflected in royal surnames. Nonetheless, the royal family has its own customs, and sovereigns usually take their father’s name for their “House.”

As demonstrated by the House of Windsor, this custom guarantees continuity and respects the family heritage. Members of the royal family, including Harry and Meghan’s offspring, would normally have the “Mountbatten-Windsor” surname unless a monarch opted to alter this custom. Harry and Meghan have since reversed this practice.
